This week No Flashing Matter was fortunate enough to interview Professor Clare McGlynn from Durham University. Clare's expertise on the issues that compound image-based sexual abuse is a linchpin of the documentary. Her work, along with her colleagues, has played key roles in the UK's adoption of new laws to criminalise the non-consensual distribution of intimate images.
In her Shattering Lives and Myths report, Clare and her colleagues argue the importance of better, sex-positive education in schools, as well as compassionate and comprehensive guidance for educators and employers that can help tackle image-based abuse within their organisations. Clare also shared her thoughts with me during our conversation, about how the Government, in her opinion, is failing targets of crimes such as Cyber Flashing.
Clare is also an advocate for 'Kaleidoscopic Justice'. Below you can hear her discuss what this means, and how she feels it could be implemented when it comes to image-based abuse.
